My expectations were not that high, I was concerned that I would not be able to get what I needed with the sessions being over Zoom and not in person but I was totally wrong. Emily was able to correct my postures and positions by modeling what I needed to do and explaining in step by step instructions how to complete the task.

One of the biggest takeaways I got was that every exercise I did improved not just my singing, but also my posture, my dancing, my endurance, and has worked out my core. I think I will also continue all these stretches beyond just high school and choir as it will help me continue to be stronger as I get older. It has also improved my mental state of keeping myself stronger mentally and has helped me understand that hard work always pays off in the end. After stretching, I really feel better about myself that I’m doing something good for my body and mind.

I can’t even explain how grateful I am to Emily at Unleashed Movement! I am a professional dancer and have been living in pain and poor alignment for years. Like all athletes, pain has become normal for my life and I have always pushed through. Eventually though, my lower back and knee pain became too much and it was effecting my performance. I was also developing balance issues. After beginning my work with Emily, I saw an immediate improvement. After my first few weeks, my knee pain was gone and I had so much more mobility back with my lower back. My balance also started getting much stronger. I had so much relief not only physically but mentally. I no longer had to resign to the idea that that this pain in my body was just how it was going to be because I was getting older. Emily helped me get my body back!

Originally, I was very stiff and lacked good breathing control when it came to singing and my posture was not as good as it should have been. Now, I have been able to move quicker and perform better and my posture is no longer slumped over, and much more upright. The change in posture also makes me feel more confident as well. I have also been able to move muscles that I couldn’t before and have more control over my body and flexibility.

Everything feels better when your body feels better - that incessant, nagging discomfort in my hip was impacting my sleep, how I was holding myself, how much I enjoyed (or not) doing activities. I feel so much better every moment of the day without that hip pain.

I was able to increase my flexibility and strength for sure! Especially in stretching, when I did certain exercises that used to feel capped out or stale, I could now feel my body actually finding new flexibility. A great example is anytime I used to stretch my hamstring I felt like there was no space to grow but now that my back is in better shape, I fully feel that stretch and have increased my flexibility in both those regions.

This exceeded expectations. I knew all of this was possible but I couldn't have known coming into this that you'd be the coach and these would be the sessions that changed my life this much. It's amazing to get to experience seeing my body improve so quickly. I knew that you were probably really good at what you did. But I didn't know you'd be able to solve complex problems so well. I feel like there were some tricky moments with my compensation patterns and you were always casually relentless in solving for them and trying new things and asking the right questions. I felt like all I had to do was be as present as well as I could with my body then relay that sensory information to you and you took care of the rest.

I'm a very active person with pretty good form (or so I thought), but I was experiencing pretty chronic lower back pain which was very frustrating. Having worked with Emily in the past, I thought I'd reach out to explore any potential alignment issues and get to the root of the problem. It was amazing to me that during our first session over Zoom, Emily was able to see where my alignment was off - and walk me through what she saw - and determine the best exercises to start getting me back in alignment. Emily was so attentive and responsive; it was clear that these were personalized sessions and programs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
